PRIVATE TOUR:  DOMINICAL NIGHT HIKE IN THE JUNGLE

The Walk through a private rainforest reserve which is a biodiversity hot spot with a high concentration of plant & animal species found at this altitude of 670 meters above sea level. Your guide is one of the most knowledgeable and renowned herpetologist in the Neotropics, and has more than 26 years living and exploring this area. One of his specialties, aside from the research and teaching about herps, is to conduct expeditions to remote areas to look for new species.  This tour takes you up into the hills and down by a river on a private property which is a hotspot for seeing reptiles, frogs and so much more!  It is an easy walk down to the river (@300 meters) & is one of our most popular private tours in the area!  ​

The trail meanders through the forest, between the towering trunks of giant rainforest trees and a high diversity of palm trees. In the dense canopy above you’ll look for owls, kinkajous and other nocturnal animals. Down closer to the ground you’ll find a high concentration of reptile, amphibian and insects such as praying mantises, katydids, rain frogs, tree frogs, climbing toads, pug-nosed anoles, helmeted iguanas, eyelash pit vipers, cat-eyed snakes, coral snakes, fer-de-lance and more!
