CARIBBEAN HERPING EXPEDITION

This expedition to the Caribbean side of Costa Rica is intended to find and photograph some of the most marvelous and spectacular species of frogs and vipers in the world. In this expedition we can observe around 100 species in a week and will visit four different locations along the Caribbean versant, all four in rainforest. Eyelash vipers, pit vipers, fantastic Tree Frogs, countless Glass Frogs and poison frogs, Emerald basilisks and much more…even the mighty Bushmaster!

VIPER HERPING EXPEDITION
On Request - 4 Person Minimum
This expedition is strictly planned to have the maximum amount of probabilities to encounter 21 of the 23 species of vipers and coral snakes of the country. It is going to be long and exhausting, but probably one of the most adventurous and spectacular ways to see those snakes, among many other species of reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals. We will explore rainforest in the Pacific and Caribbean, lower and upper cloud forests and dry forests trying to offer one of the most exciting and complete herping experiences ever. This is not an expedition for everybody, we believe there are few people in the world able to walk so hard to achieve all possible targets. **Please note you must be extremely physically fit to book this tour: able to walk for hours, in usually very hot/muggy conditions, traverse in rivers over slippery rocks & more**
GUATEMALA HERPING EXPEDITION
July 1-9, 2024/ 10 days, 9 nights - Guatemala

Explore the ancient Maya territory’s herpetological secrets of Guatemala with quetzals, beautiful lakes and volcanoes. In this beautiful and little explored country, we will explore Caribbean rain and cloud forests as well as one Pacific locality. Our goals are endemic delicacies like the yellow blotched palm viper (Bothriechis aurifer), the Guatemalan Beaded Lizard (Heloderma charlesbogerti) and the beautiful salamanders of the genus Bolitoglossa. Submerging Guatemalan idiosyncrasy to reach the most undisclosed herps will be our goal there.

RAINFOREST HERPING PHOTO SAFARI
On Request - 4 Person Minimum
Stay in the middle of the jungle without sacrificing comfort. There are easy trails and abundance of amphibians (glass frogs, poison frogs, rain frogs, monkey frogs, tree frogs, tropical salamanders…), and reptiles (basilisks, caimans, crocodiles, iguanas, boas, vine snakes, vipers and more…). Opportunities to photograph and film those incredible creatures during day and night will be plentiful.

In this expedition we can observe around 100 species in 10 days (of course this is not a promise but we will try), and will visit six different locations, one of Caribbean influence, two in the dry (xeric) area, and 3 along the southern pacific (rainforest).
